Solutions Architect, EMEA Startups — France

The location for the role should be in the Paris region (i.e. within a commutable distance for a hybrid schedule).

Databricks is a Data and AI company. Our Solutions Architects help customers turn complex data and AI challenges into secure, scalable solutions that deliver measurable business value.

The EMEA Startups team works with fast-growing, digital-native companies as they move from early technical exploration to production adoption. In this role, you will engage founders, CTOs, VP Engineering/Data, architects and technical leaders to identify high-impact use cases, shape modern data and AI architectures, and help customers make Databricks a strategic part of their product and technology roadmap.

You will work on new-logo accounts in the France Startups segment and SMBs, while selectively supporting expansion opportunities in existing accounts. You will operate across a broad and dynamic account set, combining strong technical judgment with business-oriented discovery and signal-based prioritisation.

You will partner closely with Account Executives and the wider Field Engineering organisation to create technical wins, accelerate time to value and build lasting customer relationships.

The impact you will have:

  • Partner with Startups Account Executives to build and execute technical account strategy for acquiring new logos and growing Databricks consumption on existing accounts
  • Engage founders, CTOs, VPs of Engineering/Data, architects and technical practitioners in consultative discovery. Translate business priorities into clear data, analytics, AI and platform use cases.
  • Lead the technical sales motion from discovery through evaluation: define success criteria, develop solution architectures, deliver demonstrations, guide sizing, run or coordinate proofs of concept, and establish a clear path to adoption.
  • Provide technical leadership across data engineering, data warehousing, analytics and BI, machine learning, GenAI, Apps, Lakebase and related cloud-native workloads.
  • Establish technical wins by connecting customer outcomes to the Databricks platform and helping stakeholders make confident architecture and technology decisions.
  • Use account context and customer signals—including consumption movement, user activity, feature adoption, architecture, security and cost considerations—to prioritize high-value technical engagements and create relevant points of view.
  • Contribute to the startup and technical ecosystem through workshops, office hours, meetups, events, partner activity and other 1:many engagements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, delivery and services teams, Support and technology partners to represent customer needs, remove technical blockers and accelerate adoption.

What we look for:

  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, consulting or equivalent role.
  • A track record of leading technical discovery and architecture discussions with software engineers, data teams, architects and senior technical decision-makers.
  • Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems and cloud-native solutions.
  • Hands-on programming experience in at least one of Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience building solutions with one or more public-cloud providers, such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Depth in at least one relevant domain, such as data engineering, data warehousing, analytics and BI, data science, machine learning, GenAI, streaming, OLTP or data governance.
  • Experience taking ambiguous customer problems from use-case discovery through solution design, evaluation and a clear technical outcome.
  • Strong business communication skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs, connect architecture to business value, and communicate through presentations, whiteboarding, written points of view and platform demonstrations.
  • Ability to operate with pace and autonomy across multiple accounts, prioritise effort and collaborate effectively with Account Executives and the wider account team.
  • A customer-first mindset, strong curiosity and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-moving technology environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with high-growth technology companies, product engineering teams, SaaS businesses, founders or venture-backed organisations.
  • Experience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow or comparable modern data and AI technologies.
  • Familiarity with startup, VC, accelerator, ISV or cloud-partner ecosystems.
  • Databricks and cloud certifications.

Location and travel

  • This role is based in the Paris region, within a commutable distance for a hybrid working schedule.
  • Business proficiency in both French and English is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20-30% as required, primarily for customer meetings, local and regional events, and team activities.
