Enterprise AE Salary Guide 2026: Real Compensation Data

Enterprise Account Executive is the highest-paid individual contributor role in go-to-market. Bigger paychecks than most VP Sales, higher OTE than half the Sales Directors, without any of the direct-report management overhead.
The trade-off: brutal deal cycles (6-12+ months), complex procurement, technical evaluation, security review, executive sponsorship — and quotas that assume you close 3-5 deals a year at $200K-$2M ACV each.
Here's what Enterprise AEs actually earn, from 110 published-salary listings on UpliftGTM.
TL;DR: real Enterprise AE compensation
Based on 110 published-salary Enterprise AE listings — the most-reliable data point in our entire dataset for any GTM role.
| Metric | Base + OTE Range |
|---|---|
| Median Enterprise AE | $250K – $346K |
| Top quartile (75th percentile) | $424K OTE |
| Top decile (90th percentile) | $462K OTE |
If you're currently an Enterprise AE and your OTE is under $250K, the market says you're being underpaid. If you're under $346K, you have room to negotiate.
Base vs OTE — Enterprise AE anatomy
Enterprise AE offers typically break down more base-heavy than junior AE roles because the sales cycles are long and reps need financial stability during multi-quarter deal cycles.
- Base salary: 50-55% of OTE — typically $130K–$180K base
- Commission (variable): 45-50% of OTE — $120K–$180K at 100% attainment
- Uncapped upside: most Enterprise AE roles at credible companies have no ceiling on commission
- Equity: material at pre-IPO companies — $50-200K/year expected value at growth stage; refresh grants at public companies
- Accelerators: kick in above 100% attainment (typically 1.5-2× the standard rate above quota)
Representative Enterprise AE offer: $180K base + $180K OTE variable = $360K OTE at plan. Uncapped commission. Equity worth $80-200K/year at expected outcomes.
Top-decile Enterprise AE offer ($462K OTE): $200-220K base + $240-260K variable. Companies at this level are almost always AI-native or data-infrastructure at Series C+ stage.
The p75 to p90 gap
Note the compression: p75 = $424K, p90 = $462K. Only 9% difference at the top of the market. This is unusual — most GTM roles have wider p75→p90 gaps.
The compression happens because the top-of-market Enterprise AE is essentially a solved compensation problem: there's a well-known band that Databricks, Stripe, Snowflake and their peers pay to attract the best closing talent. Once you're in the band, going higher requires equity gains or role transitions, not base+OTE increases.
Enterprise AE vs AE vs Mid-Market AE
The three "AE" tiers have distinct comp bands:
| Role | Median OTE | Deal Size | Cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mid-Market AE | $125K – $149K | $10K–$100K ACV | 30-90 days |
| Account Executive | $181K – $230K | $50K–$500K ACV | 60-180 days |
| Enterprise AE | $250K – $346K | $200K–$2M+ ACV | 6-12+ months |
The comp difference reflects the difference in deal complexity, cycle length, and closing sophistication required.

What separates top-decile Enterprise AEs
Looking at where the p90 comp lives, three profiles dominate:
- AI-native scale-ups: OpenAI, Anthropic, Databricks, Sierra, Harvey. Massive category velocity, huge deals, generous comp to attract top talent from BigTech.
- Data infrastructure: Snowflake, MongoDB, Elastic, Datadog. Established categories with proven playbooks, willing to pay top of market for reps who've closed similar deals.
- Payments + fintech: Stripe, Adyen, Ramp, Airwallex. Massive TAM, complex procurement, requires senior closing talent.
Companies at the p90 band consistently have three things in common:
- ACV > $200K average
- Series C+ maturity (product-market fit established)
- Growing revenue > 40% year-over-year
If you're an Enterprise AE and want the p90 comp band, these are the segments where the offers live.
Career math — where does Enterprise AE lead?
Enterprise AE is a high-comp ceiling role even as an IC. The next step is often lateral rather than up.
| From Enterprise AE | Options |
|---|---|
| Stay IC | Strategic AE / Named Accounts AE — even higher comp ($400K+ base + higher variable) |
| Management | Sales Manager → Director → VP Sales / CRO (management + team scale) |
| Function switch | GTM Lead at a startup you helped close (huge equity, comp uncertainty) |
| Startup founding | Head of Revenue at a friend's startup (equity-heavy, base-light) |
The IC path (staying in Enterprise AE, moving into Strategic AE) often out-earns the management path for 3-5 years because the base+commission compounds fast without management-overhead salary caps.
Regional read
Of 110 Enterprise AE listings, 84 are US-based. The comp distribution:
| Region | Median AE Range | Sample |
|---|---|---|
| US | $207K – $259K | n=84 |
| Global / remote | $198K – $356K | n=4 |
The US Enterprise AE median in our data ($207K–$259K) is lower than the overall Enterprise AE median ($250K–$346K) because our sample includes some high-comp scale-up roles that don't have region tagged. Adjust upward if you're looking at growth-stage US roles.
Non-US Enterprise AE: UK typically $180-260K equivalent, EU $150-220K equivalent, APAC (Singapore) $200-280K equivalent, Australia $180-260K equivalent.
When to negotiate for Enterprise AE
Three moments where Enterprise AE OTE is most negotiable:
- Multiple offers on the table: leverage is real, employers know it. Ask for the top of the band or accelerated ramp bonuses.
- Coming from a top-brand company: if you're leaving Databricks, Snowflake, Stripe, or similar, you should expect a 10-20% premium at the next company just for the brand transfer.
- Ramp guarantees: negotiate guaranteed commission for months 1-4 (typically 6-9 months to close first deal at Enterprise level). Without ramp guarantee, first-year comp can be 60-70% of OTE.
